I've created this blog especially for "The Pearl", form 5 literature as my beloved teacher, Pn Wan Suzynarita request for it.
So here I am, talking about my point of view for chapter 1 of the pearl. I love how John Steinbeck started this literature by describing the atmosphere of the fishing village. This gives me a very clear and vivid image of how does Kino's living place looks like.
Kino has a wife, Juana and a baby, Coyotito. Kino heard the Song of the Family inside his mind. The climax of this story is when a scorpion stung Coyotito. Now, Kino heard the Song of Evil and Song of the Enemy in his mind. I was impressed by how Juana remained calm and rational when she saw the scorpion stung Coyotito. She sucked the poison out while Kino hovered and did nothing. Juana decided to go to the doctor. Kino heard the Song of the Family when he saw the determination in Juana's eyes. I was touched by Juana who shows the greatness of motherly love.
As the villagers expected, the doctor refused to heal the baby. The greed of the doctor disgusts me, but this happens in the reality. Kino was so angry that he struck the gate a crushing blow with his fist. This shows that greed took over sympathy most of the time in reality. Thus, we must not be greedy to show our kindness towards others.
Finally, I've finished the 1st post of this blog. Thanks for reading! Have a nice day ya !
